1878:
William Neizer Patterson born in Delaware to Davis B. and Louisa (he presumably died sometime before 1900 – maybe even before 1895 – since they then recycled his middle name with Morris)

1878: Per a baptismal record extract found online –
William Neizer Patterson was baptized on October 6, 1879 at the St. Marys of the Immaculate Conception. William’s date of birth is listed as 1878 00 29 (thus, we don’t know what month, but we know the day of the month and year). His father is listed as David B. Paterson (sic), his mother as Louisa M. Blickle. The father’s place of birth is listed as Phoenixville, PA, and the mother’s place of birth is listed as Wilmington. The sponsor is listed as Caroline Blickle, presumably a relative of Louisa’s. The priest is Rev. P. Reilly. The known siblings is listed as “zero.”

1880: Per the U.S. Census, which began June 1, 1879 and ended May 31, 1880
Davis B. Patterson and Louisa Patterson lived at 1240 Wilson Street, Wilmington, DE with their two year old son, William M. Patterson. Davis was then age 27 and was employed as a Morocco Dresser. Louisa, age 20, was keeping house. Davis had been born in Pennsylvania, as had his mother and father. Louisa had been born in Delaware. Her father was born in Witenburg, Germany, and her mother was born in England.

Thus, Davis B. Patterson was born c. 1853, Louisa was born c. 1860, and William was born c. 1878.

Also living with them at this time were Emma E. Patterson, age 40, and presumably her three sons, Edmund G. Patterson, age 12, Frank Patterson, age 9, and Jno. M. Patterson, age 4. It isn’t clear yet who these folk were. Emma was working at a cotton mill, as was Edmund. Frank was at school. Emma was born in Delaware, as were both of her parents. Emma’s three sons were born in Delaware, their father is listed as being born in Pennsylvania, and their mother in Delaware.

1881:
Henry Warren Patterson was born to Davis B. and Louisa (he presumably died sometime before 1900)

1881: Per a baptismal record extract found online –
Henry Warren Patterson was baptized on July 21, 1881 at the St. Marys of the Immaculate Conception. Henry’s date of birth is listed as March 17, 1881. His father is listed as Davis B. Patterson, his mother as Louisa M. Blickle. The father’s place of birth is listed Pennsylvania, and the mother’s place of birth is listed as Wilmington, DE. The sponsor is listed as Anna C. Blickle, presumably a relative of Louisa’s. The priest is Rev. P. Reilly. The known siblings is listed as “zero.”

1883:
September – Charles Patterson born in Delaware to Davis B. Patterson and Louisa

1885:
June - Davis B. Patterson born in Delaware to Davis B. Patterson and Louisa

1890:
August – Richard B. Patterson born in Delaware to Davis B. Patterson and Louisa

1892:
August – Robert Patterson born in Delaware to Davis B. Patterson and Louisa

1895:
September – Morris Neizer Patterson born in Delaware to Davis B. Patterson and Louisa

1900:
March – Jacob J. Patterson born in Delaware to Davis B. Patterson and Louisa

Per the 12th U.S. Census - 1900:
Davis B. Patterson and Louisa Patterson now lived at an unspecified address on New Castle Avenue, Wilmington, DE, where they rented a house. Davis is shown to have been born in August 1854, and Louisa is shown to have been born October 1860. They and their parent’s place of birth are consistent with the 1880 census. Davis is now working as a Park Guard. They are listed as being married for 23 years, thus they were married c. 1877. This census shows Louisa had born nine children, but only six were still living as of the time of the census. Living with Davis and Louisa are their six living children – all sons: Charles, born September 1883, Davis B., born June 85, Richard B., born August 1890, Robert, born August 1892, Morris M., born September 1895, and Jacob J., born March 1900. All the children are shown as being born in Delaware. Charles was employed as a farmhand, and the younger Davis B. was working as a paperhanger. The two oldest sons, as well as Davis and Louisa, are all shown to be able to read, write, and speak English. Davis, and the two oldest sons, are shown to have had zero months not employed.

I thus surmise that William Patterson, and two other unknown children, had died. William would have been no older than 12 when he died, and the other two children, presumably born after Davis and Louisa were married, would have been no older than 23.
